Expert Tips For Turning A Laundry Into Bathroom Laundry

Modern Bathroom Laundry

As the price of housing skyrockets, you might be over paying for that 3 by 1 and have no choice to make the most out of it, well I am here to help you turn that laundry into a bathroom with 3 expert tips.

Below I will teach you the three most important rules of creating a bathroom out of your laundry space.

The benefit of this renovation is it actually will increase the value of your home by a lot.

It will also make your house more beneficial for the people in the space if converted correctly.

Modern Laundry Bathroom

1. Only Have One Sink

My biggest rule of creating a bathroom from a laundry is never have a double sink.

You want the new bathroom to feel like a bathroom, the moment you add two different sinks it feels tacked on.

The other downside of the double sink is you need so much space to make both work.

One sink allows more bench space and if its a basin instead of metal sink it feels like a bathroom.

Below is a stunning example by Vision Design Studio who turned the laundry set up into a more hidden euro type

By doing this and making the sink a basin you create a more bathroom vibe.

2.Remove External Doors

Most laundries have an external door to the outside of there home. The concept is simple you do the laundry you take it out.

Often the issue with this and most laundries in Australia is that they are small in size.

To add a shower to the space that external door area is a prime spot.

The other worry is if you have an external door it again feels like added on shower to a laundry area not a bathroom feel.

Below is an example of using the length of the room to add as much as possible.

You need about 1600mm of width to make what we call the maximum storage option

3. Keep The Toilet Separate

I am not a the biggest fan of opening up a room by removing walls unless it benefits the space.

Removing a wall in any wet room will add lets say $3000 to $4000 to a job. In the case of removing toilet walls you have now created a room that can only be used by one person.

If you keep the toilet separate someone can be doing the washing and use the toilet.

But But But and an extra but I have one disclaimer on this.

If you don’t have enough space the toilet area will have to go.

I created a technique called the toilet shower.

This is where the toilet area becomes the shower concept.

Below are images of this creation.

These designs have been created in a spacing where we didnt have enough room to have the items decent sizing.

So its not ascetically perfect but allows for better use of a small space.

You can add a half wall toilet to hide the toilet Apon looking into the space.

Final Thoughts On Laundries Into Bathrooms

Creating a bathroom from your laundry area in modern times is the only way to make your house go up in vavlue from a renovation.

That is not the only benefit but it also benefits big families who only have one bathroom. A 3x 1 to a 3×2 is a life changer trust me I have lived it.
